The youth from Ikemeleng Informal settlement, Steelpoort, Lefarakgatla village, Tlhabane and Mogwase had time of their lives as most of them it was their first time to play football in the artificial turf field and also for them to meet their new friends out of their comfort zones and exchange info and hang out together the whole day. It was incredible. My highlight was when we put 4 laptops with the internet on and never tell the youth what to do, it was so amazing how they were glued to the laptops, surfing internet etc during the breaks. Life skills sessions were held once there is a problem identified. Soccer skills were taught in between matches even the most basics like throwing the ball. We had a come together braai after. And then our friends coming from Steelpoort had a privilege of sleeping at the nearby game reserve resort and they were so excited making noise the whole night and especially after they won the tournament. In the morning they were all wearing the medals, bragging and caring their trophy even when I took them to KFC to get their snack the next morning, singing together and smiling. It was beautiful and it is hard to explain what it does to the youth unless one witness it. Looking at the feedbacks, one can see that these youth have hope, confidences and re positive about life.
