There was a tournament in Cosmo City these past two weeks celebrating the progress and emphasizing the awareness of the 16 days of activism for no violence against woman and children.
The tournament started on a good note with our Cosmo City teams namely 'Dangerous Darkies' winning their first games and qualifying for the final stages. With all young and old amped for the trophies, medals, bragging rights and respect the finals were sure to be competitive and emotional...
The u11 soccer team from DD won their division with a convincing 2-0 victory, their older bro's (the u13s) came second in a challenging battle with their arch rivals, they displayed much character even when the odds were stacked against them (the referee being the 12th player for the opposition) to come from 2-0 down in the first half to a 2-1 defeat.
Soccer was not the only sport on the agenda, we enjoyed cultural dance routines and some 'bujwa dance' showing off extreme agility, then after focused on the netball...The name Dangerous Darkies came out on tops again in both the junior and senior age categories playing their games with conviction and showing their hunger for further prosperity and accolades.
I would like to thank all who took part in the tournament, starting with the coaches who worked hard to make sure that the players were ready for whatever might come their way. Secondly, to the players who were dedicated on and off the field executing the lessons taught by the coaches.Congratulations!
