At 2010 since my netball team management knew about YOUTHZONES and we evendors went to Brits as U18 Umlazi Netball Team it was nice and enjoyable but still I did not understand what was YZ about I only knew it was a sponsor for our team.
And thanks when I got a phone from my late big sister I saw this YZ page on Facebook than I saw pexpletive posting their team photos and I got jealous and started to post too. That when I knew Doc when he inbox and ask me questions. Time goes on in went ton Shongweni representing my team it is whereally I understood YZ by a word "BRIDGE" .... Nowner I started to spread this word of YZ.
2014 I after my knee operation I went to Coastal College for Management Assistant N4 - N6and register not knowing how am I going to pay, where am I going to get the bus fair because my mum could not afford. I told my self that I'll hustle and aspire netball games on weekends and get that R100 so that I'll go to school. I passed well especially Computer was getting distintions I ended up in awards at the college and I became a computer tutor without getting paid.
One day I got guts and stand in front of my class and tell them about YZ,creating emails, showing them YZ website and some were interested. I was so happy because even around where I come from it told everyone of which I saw that I do have explining skills I'm good in it after that I received a text saying YZ is supporting me with a laptop and I'm appointed as one of the leaders in Umlazi I was really happy about it because that laptop I was creating pexpletive emails and CVS for them and also helping my sister to practice computer.
The journey begins when I was looking for in service training for 18 months in order for me to get or apply for myour Management Assistant DiPloma. I emailed Doc requesting, I got the position as Administrator Trainee of which I gained leadership skills there, I am happy and I really appreciate because I have learned a lot, YZ made me grow, meeting new people, making new friends, networking with other people from other countries as well of which it was still practical for one of my modules.
My journey was not easy at all when I looknow where I come from within life, my focus helped me a lot because I managet to pull through all the difficulties, growing in informal settlement, raised by a single who is not working, going to a National tournament in Pretoria only with R20 for the whole week in this R20 I had to save R7,50 to take a train home from townow when we are back. Growing up where all the girls in my age are staying with baby Dadies, dropping at school, have 1 - 3 babies before even reaching 25.
My community did not prevent me from my dreamside, as much as I have achieved all this i am not perfect I have made lot of mistakes but Doctor nevery gave up on me even when I wanted to give up he was there shouting and ask if I have forgotten what I want to achieve, that picture is always in my mind seeing my self wearing graduation gown, being the first child at home to graduate and make my mum happy and this gown will be for YZ because without them I would not be where and who I am.
Thank you YOUTHZONES for every thing you have done for me of which it is countless. Doc you have played a big role in my life, advising and showing the right path, I really appreciate everything. I am very speechless. I will always servey comm unity.
