My experience in my journey to drakensburg mountain

On my journey to Drankesburg mountain I experienced a real life, from just the first day from Upington to Johannesburg was really awesome till the time I notice I've lost my wallet which really changed my happiness to sadness, but I was too strong telling myself that everything will be okay. I took a taxi from Upington to Kirmberly because taxis from Upington to Johannesburg were long time gone, I departed at 10:25 from Upington and arrived at Kimberly 16:40, at Johannesburg when I arrived was 02:00 in the morning and at 04:00 was the time to depart from Johannesburg to Drankesburg, that how I saw am strong and it was the beginning of my journey, the beginning of my experience and real life.

The time we arrived at Drankesburg was passing eleven, there we got three white mans preparing the camp, the first thing we did was introduction and induction took place. There were groceries divided into our numbers and everyone took his bag and pack. We were then divided into two groups and one map was given to each group and we were then asked where on the map we are currently in and told where are going.

The first group took a lead for 3 km and then the other group continued for 2.5 km, we had our lunch after 5.5 km, we walked 7 km to arrive at Lower Insjisuthi Carve where we ate supper and slept.

Along the way I've learned to be patient because the roads we took were a bit zik-zet and seen too long to where we were going, and I were impatient but I managed to finish the journey same as others, the walk we took were up and downs, and also life has ups and downs but you have to be mentally strong and being patient. In life you have to work hard to get something, being patient will help you not to quit because quitters never win and winners never quit, in life no one want to be a looser that's why you have to be strong and patient. Never forget where you come from, and you must know where you are and where you go, knowing this will help you to work even harder.

Treat everyone like you want to be treated back, that is what I learned, not to treat a person based on race because on our trip we were not one race, but we were all happy to be together with different tribes.

After the journey, we got in the taxi going back to our different homes but because of time it was not all of us to go to our homes, I went to Gauteng Cosmo City on 15th of february, and then spent three nights at Mamelodi Gardens.

All these experience I deeply thank Youthzones to giving me the opportunity to show case what I can offer, all thanks goes to Mr Ayanda for being friendly from day one on the telephone till last day at Drankesburg, Mr Doc for choosing me from Upington and all the teachings at Drankesburg thanks to Mr Tom, Mr Schalk, Mr Simon and Mr Fourrie.
