My June 16 began in the early hours of the morning, having to get all in place before 07:00 (7am), as we had to leave for Bellville, Western Cape at that time...ensuring that we will be at the Gate before 08:00 (8am), as that is when the program of the day was to start...

We had two netball teams from the Helderberg to participate at the WP Board Games and Erica Trials. 12 teams from the Sub-Unions affiliated to the WP Netball Union were to play in the Board Games on Youth Day and Tygerberg Netball was the Host of the Event. During the trials, 4 Erica Teams were to be selected. The Erica A & B teams are said to participate in the Clanwilliam Tournament from 27 – 28 July 2012 and the Erica C & D teams will participate in the Western Cape Regional Tournament in Saldanha from 24 – 25 August 2012.

We got there everything in order and set in place, thanking my two teams that were able to get up early too, to make the time for the games... You simple can't resist, but take note of the excitement in my teams as they realized that the day was going to be packed with activity...

They had to play 10 matches yesterday, divided into two, for Section A and Section B, they were really pushed, but they didn't disappoint us, commitment and the love of the game, kept them going, sometimes, they would have just played a game and another team would be waiting for them in another netball court, but they never gave up or gave in, they played brilliantly and beautifully through out the games they played.

One thing that I realize the more time I spend with these ladies, the more I get to appreciate the game of netball, I am not just there for them, but I am in-love with the game itself...sharing my time, energy and resources through this sport makes is worth every moment, there is no price in seeing the smile and excitement from the teams faces, and realizing that you are not just around them, but you resemble a father figure that is mostly absent in young people's lives, someone to believe and appreciate their efforts in trying to be positively different and their constructive contribution within society...

I have been approached by the Western Province Netball Union, to manage one of the Erica teams, that were selected during the trials. I am now involved in the sport, not just to support these ladies, but an active participant...I accepted the responsibility, and Helderberg Netball League is make strides in the right direction, and in no time, our presence will be felt in most places for we have arrived... I will be meeting the players this afternoon, to just chill and give a feedback on the Youth Day experience, I also have refreshments that were left-out yesterday, as they just had too much foodies, so we going to have a snack and have more fun...
