A stick is straightened while still young

Igotshwa isemanzi''--African Proverb
Translated: Á stick is straightened while still young.
I had a pleasure of meeting a young lady by the name of Nomcebo Chauke from Mpumalanga. She is in one of our Youthzones site in Kamaqhekeza.
She studied agriculture which something she inherited from her family, they taught her the best way to truly live is to'' Reap what you sow,'' and they meant it literally. They showed her how to produce good food with her hands, and it was passed down from generation to generation. And her mother passed it on to her.
''It then became a true passion of mine.'' she says
I joined Youthzones in 2020 during a seminar they held in Mpumalanga (Kamaqhekeza), teaching the community how to live sustainably by farming and turning it into a business which then they identified me as an agricultural graduate. Then I got a call asking if I was working yet of which I wasn’t, I sent a CV to Hazel (one of Youthzones great leaders) who then replied to me after 30 minutes saying I have to be in Gauteng for an interview the next day and we were able to make it in time with the farmers I met along our journey to Bidvest Protea Coin Offices for an interview.
After 2 weeks we received a call stating we have to come back to sign the contract at Centurion Bidvest. I’m so grateful to Youthzones who made all this possible for me and others who share the same passion as me in Agriculture. I hope the experience I will be gaining here will help me to be able to start an agribusiness of my own which will help develop my rural community and inspire others like me.
