Good discussion Thabiso. I concur with Marvin. Sport only, will not keep them away from crime. I like the Youthzones strategy where sport is only but the starting point. we have to instill in them a sense of hope and belonging. It's also about teaching and educating them, connecting them to opportunities and afterwards empowering them. We need to play our part as individuals. It will take time but it will definitely work eventually.

In my personal point of view i think we need to enlighten the youth by actually teaching them to be responsible, i mean you can't blame a child for stealing or engaging in relationships without prior knowledge i mean they are still discovering their world. So everyone who has the power to educate them either a parent or anyone just need to be open to them, you know i have seen parents being over protective to their children but did not even explain to their children why they are over protective, and this confused children and ended up disappointing their parents, i mean whom to blame because the parent just didn't have that much trust in their kids that they are responsible enough to make their own decisions, but the parent also did not play the role of educating their children about LIFE, i know some subjects my be too sensitive, but at least let them know so they don't blame you.

My Point is let us be open to them and teach them to be responsible in everything they do, because what's happening today had happened before so if someone doesn't stand up and make the change they want to see, things like this will keep on happening. That was my point
