1. Youth Crime Prevention Desk
The programme is aimed at:
Increasing the participation and involvement of youth in
crime prevention initiatives.
Facilitating the co-ordination of youth programmes at
station, cluster and provincial levels through the youth
crime prevention desks.
Designing and implementing plans to address youth safety
challenges
Capacitating the youth with relevant skills to implement
projects.
Addressing youth criminality in the province.
2. Alcohol and Drug abuse prevention programme
The program is aimed at addressing the increasing challenges
of alcohol and substance abuse in communities through
awareness raising and capacity building.
Activities
Coordination of liquor enforcement operations.
Coordination of school safety searches in problematic
schools.
Substance abuse awareness campaigns and talks.
Facilitate Correctional service visits by learners and
youth.
Coordination of liquor education campaigns targeting liquor
traders.
Coordination of Quarterly liquor education and enforcement
planning and evaluation workshops with key stakeholders.
3. Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWAC)
The programme is aimed a coordinating and implementing
initiatives geared towards reducing and preventing violence
against vulnerable groups (women, children and people with
disabilities)
Furthermore the programmes look at advocating for and
promoting the participation of men and boys in preventing
VAWAC, non-violence and gender-equitable norms through
initiatives such as Men as Safety Promotions.
Activities
Establish Men as Safety Promoters groups (MASP)
Facilitate Child Safety promotion workshops
Establish Women Safety workshops
Establish elderly desks
Facilitate awareness workshops for the elderly and people
with disabilities
Coordinate the Provincial Gender Based Violence Prevention
Forum
Coordinate a 365 day program of action to end gender based
violence (including the coordination of the Provincial 16
days of activism)
4. Promotion of School Safety
The program is aimed at designing and implementing an
integrated framework and framework and approach to all aspects
of school safety and security. The program further coordinates
and sets up structures to implement and monitor the school
safety programmes.
Activities
Capacity building of schools
Facilitate the development of school safety plans and the
establishment of safety teams.
Monitor the implementation of school safety plans
Coordinate quarterly Provincial implementation Committee
Workshops
Conduct Child Safety Awareness
Capacity building of learners as school safety ambassadors
5. Mainstreaming Social Crime Prevention in Government
The program aims to capacitate municipalities and other key
partners on social crime prevention through partnerships
Activities
Develop and implement regional social crime prevention plans
with municipalities
Conduct Social Crime prevention training workshops
Coordinate quarterly social crime prevention workshops
Facilitate and support the strengthening of Community Safety
