Creating a better Mzansi through sport and development
My brothers and sisters,
It's been a while, which doesn't mean I have forgotten you. Although a lot of countries and water separate us, I will never forget my amazing time, in your amazing country. In fact, since I have been back in England, I have told all my friends and family about the memories and the people I have met in your country. I can't explain how much I miss South Africa, the country itself, but more importantly: Schalk, Doc, Simon, Ayanda, Lungile, Raymond, Alpheus and everyone else I met. To be honest, I went to SA as a boy and I came back as a man and I can only thank you guys for it.
When I was in SA, I remember some of you asking what it's like in England. Although, it may seem to you that the way of living is better and there is less politics. Let me ask you: What is the point in a boy having R1000 if he didn't know how to use it effectively? I've noticed this a lot since I've been back. As a country (England), we don't appreciate what we have, we complain about our luxuries and it is 'weird' if you greet somebody in the street. As a country, SA is the friendliest and most hospitable country I have ever been to. The people I met in such a short space of time are my biggest inspirations. Schalk and Doc taught me more life lessons in 6 weeks than some of my school teachers taught me in 6 years. Ayanda and Simon taught me more about different SA cultures, music and sport which made me comfortable when meeting all you guys.
Of all the sites I visited, I remember every single one of you and I am still grateful for your welcoming nature. Really I have just wrote on this to say a big English 'Hello!' but to also say: Please appreciate the work the Youthzones team do, I have never seen such hard work but people that truly love helping people. I hope that one day, I can return to South Africa to work with Youthzones, that is my plan.
