Creating a better Mzansi through sport and development
To be a member of youthzones is one of the best steps i took because you get to experience life in a different perspective, let me tell you all about it!!!
I would like to thank Mr Blangwe for taking further steps to involve me in activities that youthzones engage themselves in. Last week i was at Mabopane (Pretoria) for the whole week and i had such a lovely time with helping the needy, having training sessions and even socializing with the players, as a captain of Arsenal Evaton…

Evaton North YZ Leaders planned a trip to Durban after we heard that Doc and Simon together with ABI are going to have a CSI day in Umlazi. The trip was great from the beginning when Doc said he can take us to Durban with the car, even when things didn't seem to go well at first but our spirits were very high so nothing could touch us. We then met with Joey who is an awesome chick, free spirit and all. We really had a great time in the car singing songs (most of them made up lol) and talking…

I am very proud to notify all Youthzones of the great achievement made by one of Mutare Youthzones members, Tichaona Mabvura, who is now turning out for Zimbabwe’s biggest, most supported and successful football club, DYNAMOS F.C. At only 19, Ticha has turned out to be a revelation at the club and has already been registered to play in the CAF Champions League!!! He also has earned 4 caps to both the national football Under 20s & Under 23s teams. Just a couple of months ago, he was…

With Mr Roelf Meyer, founder of FSSA and Youthzones currently visiting Upington, and in particular Pabalello, www.youthzones.co.za took the chance to ask him 10 interesting questions:
YZ: Why did you start the Foundation for a Safe South Africa?
RM: I spent a long time wondering how I could contribute as a member of civil society, towards making a safe and stable South Africa, then I realised it’s not up to the…

After a year of joining Youthzones, this weekend was an eye opening experience and a joy to my heart, I now understand the essence and the purpose of the organization. Seeing other Youthzones members doing what they love. I'm inspired to be a better person, not for me but for other people.
There welcome we received in Jane Furse was so amazing and genuine and the best thing is that it came from real people with real emotions. We were not celebrities but the respect we got…

This last weekend's experience will forever be remembered vividly by the Youthzones team and the lovely community of Jane Furse.
What was supposed to be a very long and tiresome 4 hour journey from Evaton North to Jane Furse, turned to be a very exciting trip filled with love, care and humour. You should have heard the singing, the jokes, important discussions and sharing of ideas to improve our work. Our loving broer & leader in the journey, Doc, would frequently ask if…

One does not need a curriculum to learn life-skills. Every incident or situation can become a class-room.
That is whyYouthzones launched the life-skills competition only on the www.youthzones.co.za website, to teach participants that if you spend time on constructive things, you put yourself into a situation to benefit. Like they say: you have to create your own luck.
The adjudication was done by an independent third party in…

On our last visit to Evaton North, we planned to catch up with our friends at the school and to teach them some techniques to write a proper CV. When we arrived at the school, Simon led us up to the computer room, where Ayunda and the students were finishing up class. Upon entering the room, we found ourselves in the middle a session, where speeches were being delivered. We found our seats, and listened intently as the next speeches were delivered. When the speech began, the words rang…

A new middle school made from containers was organized in the second half of 2011, close to a barren field with long veld grass, big rocks, snakes, rats making up the scenery of what would seem a perfectly hopeless institution of leaning. It has students comprising of youth from honeydew stretching across Cosmo City and Nooitgedacht all the way to Diepsloot, Lion Park and Fourways.
The feeling inside the school was the opposite as we were let in to fulfill our appointments with the…

Football can be a great educational tool, to teach us life-skills and help us grow up. But it can also be a place where we learn to behave stupid! Some football teams is just an excuse to fight, drink and get girls- some even do crime together!
Luckily, with all the teams we work with as part of youthzones, football is a tool for education and growing. So what makes the difference, what makes football to sometimes be good and sometimes be bad? I think it has everything to do…

As we always say patience and perseverance is the way forward. Normally when one sow a seed or plant fruit tree doesn't automatically expect to get the results or fruits at the same time. It takes time to water the plant, to feed with the right nutrients everyday. If one feed the plant once in a while it automatically wilt and dies. Then it automatically involves follow-up and taking responsibility. Lately I have been witnessing through the assistance and patience of ABI, now the fruits are…

I'm with a lady here in Evaton who is doing her Learner-ship in career guidance and she has been here since the 1rst and yet not many students know that she is here. so i offered to sacrifice my computer classes for her to introduce herself to the students and hold sessions with them coz i really believe that every learner needs some career guidance. hope she'll get the necessary permission.

Not only that Sipho is humble, ever laughing, friendly, working for ABI-KZN and successful, he is also a local lad from Umlazi who was raised in a humble beginnings at D-Section in Umlazi and attended Primary and High schools in Umlazi. He is definitely inspiration to everyone of Juventus FC including myself. On the 6th of Jan 2012, Sipho joined Simon and Doc during the training session of Juventus FC at Nselele Primary School and only to know after training when he said is his first time to…
