What an eventful day! After being being joined by the local youth leaders to the gym during the early hours of the morning around 7.  Abongile, Nkosi and Sayda joined me at Virgin Active. I then spent time with the Juniors at Zola Section and the young girls. And then it was time to be hanging with the local teams where by there were three matches involved and I officiated one of the games. I then had to rush to coach and hang with Cosmos netball team whereby we won 36-32 and 32-25 for A and B team respectively versus Milano from Zola. And then it was time to hang out with the Inyanda crew and LF who work together very well and are friends.

What a trip I had down to the Cape? I had to carry 46" LCD TV, Monitors, laptops, DVD players which our friends from LFA in Helderberg asked if I can bring it down for them from SAFA house. I was definitely the attention at the airport with my overloaded trolley. I arrived safely on the evening of the 28th with all the luggage in Cape Town. I then had to wake up early in the morning the next day at around 6am and take Helderberg LFA squad which was competing in the Cape Town FC tournament and to shock of my life I was called technical advisor/consultant sitting on the bench with the crew. We won the semi-finals and lost in the finals by nail-biting 2-1 to Ajax Gugulethu. What was very interesting is that the squad consisted of the best players falling under Helderberg Local Football Association and I know all of them which made my work easy.

Heita!! The young and old people of Helderberg in Lwandle, Nomzamo and Asanda Village are still celebrating the fact that Helderberg Local Football Association is a beneficiary of the Turf lagacy Project, most of the people tot we are going to stop playing football and wait for the stadium to be finished but it wasnt to be after the recent long weekend tht hosted a big pre-season tonerment organised by of our local teams. what amouth watering games, lwandle football at its best, our stadium was parked to the roof, young and old were there to experience our last action on the dust as we are waitng for the turf field to be finished. Final the youth of these areas is coming to the party and all we are hoping for is the sustainable support from other stakeholders.

Essay contest: is playing soccer a child right?

The 10th of December is International Human Rights Day. A day to celebrate the importance of human rights for freedom and peace around the world. On this day we also celebrate the Rights of the Child. The United Nations agreed that all the children in the world have the same rights. Children have the right to a safe home, to go to school, and to play. A very popular play in South Africa is soccer. It teaches you to cooperate with a
team, how to handle losing a game, and much more. During the World Cup this year, the whole world could see how important soccer is in South Africa.

Soccer is a way for young South Africans to develop, learn to express yourselves and prepare yourself for life. We believe in the power of soccer: yes""> young South Africans can exercise their right to play and develop their future. But what do we really know?? The Netherlands Embassy would like to hear your stories and challenges you to write about what playing soccer means to you. Did it give you opportunities that you otherwise would not have had? Do you think playing soccer is important to you and your development?

You can send your story of ½ to 1 page before 1 January 2010 yes"" to pre-pa@minbuza.nl. Please, mention your name and age. The best 5 essays will win an official Netherlands team jersey with your name on it
! So don’t hesitate and start writing!
